Há vários anos, os membros do NEMO vem trabalhando na análise ontológica de linguagens e frameworks de modelagem. Diversos trabalhos foram publicados com análise ontológica de linguagens e frameworks de modelagem para arquiteturas corporativas como ArchiMate, ARIS EPCs, BPMN, DoDAF/MODAF e RM-ODP.

Diversos domínios arquiteturais foram investigados como por exemplo os domínios de modelagem de serviços e contratos, risco, capacidades organizacionais (capabilities), objetivos e planejamento estratégico (goals and strategic planning),  estruturas organizacionais  (papéis, tipos de atores), etc. A ontologia de fundamentação UFO e ontologias núcleo baseadas em UFO (como UFO-S e UFO-L)  foram usadas como base para identificar limitações e propor revisões dos construtos das linguagens e frameworks.
